Blue Water enters Trinidad
If the transit time is what is most important for the client - then that is where the focus is
We coordinate heavy lifts as well as air & sea shipments with full focus on fulfilling our client's needs
The project department of Blue Water Shipping in Esbjerg has initiated the first in a series of transports for South Africa. The cargo is a thruster for a drilling rig. According to plan, the first shipment will reach the destination in the end of June and hereafter Blue Water expect more shipments from various different subcontractors.
"For this project it is particularly the transit time which is vital for our client. We coordinate heavy lifts as well as air & sea shipments with full focus on fulfilling our client's needs", says Nikolaj Buurgaard who coordinates all steps of the transports from Esbjerg until the cargo leaves Europe. Upon arrival at the final destination in Walvis Bay, Namibia, Blue Water's local logistic coordinators are ready to take over.
The thruster is transported by means of both truck, barge and break bulk vessel.
"A truck will pick-up the thruster from the facilities of Wärtsilä in the Dutch city of Schiedam and transport the unit to a nearby quay area, where we have coordinated a direct discharge to the river barge. When the barge arrives in Antwerp, it will be discharged to a temporary storage area, before being loaded on board the ocean-going vessel for the remaining distance", says Nikolaj Buurgaard, Operations Manager Oil, Gas & Industrial Projects.
