Blue Water enters Trinidad
Transporting rig equipment in various dimensions requires precision, preparation and cooperation
This project and the large items requires both precision during the operation and in general it requires good preparation, coordination and cooperation between us and our partners
In November, Blue Water Shipping was awarded the transportation of over 2,000 cbm of valuable rig equipment from Tallinn, Estonia and Gdynia,Poland to Singapore. Among the equipment was a riser gantry crane and x-mas tree trolleys. The items had varying dimensions with lengths exceeding 39 metres and a height of up to 5.5 metres.
"This project and the large items requires both precision during the operation and in general it requires good preparation, coordination and cooperation between us and our partners in Poland and Estonia, with whom we have been working closely for many years", says Nikolaj Buurgard Sørensen, Project Manager from Blue Water.
The challenges of this project was mainly the odd-shaped and long items.
"The overall scope included the pick-up and delivery under vessel's hook from four different locations. We hired a floating crane and completed a number of challenging trucking transports. Also, we chartered the MV "BBC Amethyst", a versatile multi-purpose ship which will take the items to Singapore", Nikolaj Buurgard Sørensen.
Upon arrival in Singapore, Blue Water will also handle the delivery to door by barge and trucks. The expected arrival is around the end of January 2016.
