Collaboration is important to development
In October, Blue Water´s Aid & Relief team completed a special transport of a mobile clinic to Iraq

Among other things, the mobile clinic serves as a safe place for pregnant women to give birth and where victims of sexual violation can be treated.
The client - Hospitainer from Holland - produces mobile clinics and mobile delivery rooms, built into trucks, so they can easily be moved. The clinic was promoted with success at the AidEx exhibition which was held in Brussels in late 2016.
The mobile clinic was transported from Antwerp, Belgium to Mersin in Turkey, and after transit clearing in Mersin by low-loader trailer up to Erbil in Iraq.
“This was our fourth mobile clinic into Iraq. Blue Water Shipping´s Aid- & Relief team arranged the pick-up, delivery as well as the needed documents for clearing etc. perfectly”, says Hospitainer’s Logistics Manager, Simon Postma.
The transport went well, and the clinic arrived in time for the refugees fleeing from the affected Mosul area. Nothing is left to chance when these transports are carried out.
“We check all possible obstacles on our way, when we bring in vital and important equipment to camps in Iraq. Our team did a good job, and knowing that our client and the receiving party were pleased with the operation only confirms why we work in this niche of Aid & Relief logistics. We saw the product being promoted at AidEx and hope that many more of the mobile clinics will come into Iraq, Syria and other locations, where aid is needed”, says Johnny Mortensen, Head of Aid & Relief team at Blue Water Shipping.
Hospitainer also train UN and NGO staff in the use of the mobile clinics called “Maternitainer trucks” - for the benefit of fleeing refugees. Pregnant women and victims of sexual violation clearly need a safe and private place where they can give birth and be treated.
