Australia’s biggest blades have arrived
For the first time, Blue Water has supplied a wide range of transport and logistics services to a wind farm in Japan
We have become very experienced in finding the best possible stowage arrangements on the vessels
With decades of experience within sea freight, stowage arrangements, port operations and through a unique tracking system, Blue Water has become a preferred partner for wind projects in Asia.
Blue Water is getting more involved in transport and logistics for the wind industry in Asia. Recently, Blue Water delivered logistical services for the Higashi Yurihara wind farm located on the northern part of the Japanese main island of Honshu. The project included a total of 13 Siemens wind turbines for the 41.6 MW wind farm and the commercial operation of the wind farm is scheduled for the spring of 2018.
“A main challenge was the shipping of the components from Esbjerg, Denmark – the blades required special handling and loading. The project also included a shipment of components from Taicang, China to Akita, Japan”, says Bjarke Riber Nielsen, Business Development Manager for Blue Water APAC.
Blue Water’s scope comprised loading and unloading in the ports – including discharge onto trailers, shift to storage and supply of cranes for unloading to storage. Blue Water’s experienced supercargoes also supervised the operations in the ports and storage areas.
With projects in Australia, Philippines and Indonesia in recent years, Blue Water has completed sea freight transports - of all types of wind components - for various clients.
“As a natural consequence of our involvement in these projects, we have become very experienced in finding the best possible stowage arrangements on the vessels that carry the components. We have our own in-house stevedores and engineers who make sure that everything is planned and executed carefully”, says Bjarke Riber Nielsen.
Establishing a close relationship with vessel operators has also contributed to making Blue Water a preferred partner in the wind industry. And by providing a unique web-based tracking system – developed by Blue Water’s own IT specialists – the clients can always follow every step of the transport. The transparency of this tracking system builds trust and gives the clients comfort in knowing that they can always see the status of every shipment.
