In the cruise industry, it is customary for new ships to host a plaque and key ceremony when calling at a particular port for the first time. The ship’s captain and crew often invite port officials and other guests on board to exchange gifts.
This was what happened at the beginning of August, when the “Seven Seas Explorer” called at Port of Skaw. On behalf of Port of Skaw, the Mayor of Frederikshavn - a town just south of the Skaw - presented the unique plaque - with inscriptions commemorating the ship’s first call at the port - to the captain. In return, the guests were offered the chance to see the luxurious ship from the inside.
Blue Water acts as nationwide agent for the shipping line Regent Seven Seas Cruises – the owner of the impressive cruise vessel - and were invited to participate in the ceremony. As Saga Shipping acted as sub-agent on behalf of Blue Water during this port call, they also participated in the festivities.
