2016 was a record year
The port expansion in Kalundborg will benefit the cruise industry and the increasingly larger cruise ships. Also, Blue Water are developing its cruise activites in the port
The cruise industry is growing and so are the ships. With this expansion the port will become a more attractive location for the cruise shipping lines
Kalundborg Port is in charge of the 330.000 square metre expansion with 500 metres of quay and a water depth of 15 metres. The project aims to develop the local business environment, create jobs and ensure that the port is ready for the growing cruise market. The expansion is welcomed at Blue Water.
“We have decades of experience with developing cruise activities and can offer our services within turnarounds (passenger and crew change), terminal handling as well as a series of further services to the cruise ships. The new area will be a unique turnaround opportunity for Baltic cruises as well as for cruises on the Norwegian coast. The cruise industry is growing and so are the ships. With this expansion the port will become a more attractive location for the cruise shipping lines”, says Hans Chen Braas, Manager Port Agency & Cruise from Blue Water Copenhagen.
Kalundborg Port is situated near Copenhagen, Copenhagen Airport and the motorway network. That is why the port is strong in the cruise market, according to both Blue Water, the port itself and the third partner in the project – German PWL Port Services. The new port area is expected to be up and running from spring 2018.
