New people at the head of Sea, Air & Road
Blue Water’s Scandinavian Gateway department in Billund has increased the number of export air freight shipments to Australia due to the possibility of packing their own Unit Load Devices

Cargo packed on ULD units arriving in Australia
A Unit Load Device (ULD) is air freight’s version of a sea freigt container. ULD units provide great advantages for both the clients and Blue Water.
Among other things, it increases the efficiency in relation to the handling of the cargo when all cargo to a specific destination can be loaded on a ULD unit.
“The cargo does not need to be repacked but can be sent directly from Denmark to Australia on a ULD unit. Not only does it simplify the cargo handling during transit – it is also done much faster. The risk of damages is also minimised and finally, it enables us to provide our clients with attractive prices”, says Susan B. Lind, Export Gateway Manager at Blue Water Billund.
Ultimately, the efficiency benefits the client as the cargo can be delivered to the importer’s door in Australia much faster. It is a milestone for Blue Water Billund who has worked hard to increase their volume to this specific destination to which they have already transported several shipments.
“Everything went as planned. As the cargo arrived in Sydney and Melbourne, our own Blue Water office in Australia made sure that the cargo was cleared through customs and delivered swiftly. The process of using ULD is much faster than sending regular groupage. We have had a fantastic cooperation between internal offices to provide the best support to our Australian colleagues”, says Susan B. Lind.
