Anaklia Development Consortium is going to invest US$ 2.5 billion in developing Anaklia Deep Sea Port
The new port allows larger ships to enter Georgian waters for the first time, thus expanding Tbilisi’s export potential and ability to act as a main transport corridor within the region.
Anaklia Development Corsortium (ADC) consists of specialised local and international companies with diverse backgrounds. Together they form a global business leadership team working together with the government of Georgia for the construction of Anaklia Deep Sea Port.
“As a winner of the first phase of the Anaklia project and a subcontractor of ADC, Van Oord – with whom we have a long-time working relationship - have subsequently appointed Blue Water as their local freight forwarding agent on the project. An exciting project that we are very proud of being part of“, says Shalva Gabechava, the General Manager of Blue Water Shipping Georgia.
Since July 2018 and onwards, Blue Water’s part of the project will include vessel agency services, port handling and stevedoring, crew change, customs services and local deliveries.
The port construction project will be divided into nine phases. Pre-construction works started in 2016 and the opening of the first phase of the port and receiving of the ships in Anaklia is planned for 2021. Anaklia is expected to become one of the largest ports in the Black Sea region with a handling capacity of up to 10,000 TEU vessels.
