The Tall Ships Races, which took place forthe first time in 1956, is the world’s greatestannual sailing race for training ships.
The route of this year’s Tall Ships Races included four Nordic host ports. The race started in Aalborg, Denmark, proceeded to Frederikstad and Bergen in Norway and finished in Aarhus in Denmark. Sailing ships from 19 countries participated in the regatta. Long before the arrival of the sailing ships, Blue Water had made a port agency agreement with the Mexican training ship, the barque “Cuauhtémoc”, to the effect that we should provide full service to the barque and her crew in the two Danish host ports during the sailing race. The scope included coordination of waste collection, supply of fresh water, fenders, dispatch of parcels, mail and telephone support etc.
"It was an interesting and fun job acting as agent for “Cuauhtémoc”, which was the great attraction of this year’s Tall Ships Races. More than 26,000 people seized the opportunity to visit this beautiful ship”, says Rasmus Emsvang, Trainee in Blue Water’s Port Agency department in Aarhus, who also had the pleasure of being on board the barque, both when she put into port at and when she left port again.
