Update on documentation for EU Trade

Important update for companies selling and shipping goods from Denmark for delivery in another EU country

28 January 2020 10:24

We have recently learned that SKAT in Denmark (the Danish Tax Authorities) inform that companies selling and shipping goods from Denmark for delivery in another EU country may use the Danish national rules and consequently reject the new EU rules in the Quick Fix directive.

If your company is importing or selling goods shipped from other EU countries than Denmark, you must follow the new rules.

The “old” Danish national rules that may be used for sale from Denmark:

  • Buyer’s  VAT number must be verified
  • Buyer’s VAT number must be apparent from the commercial invoice
  • Reporting to SKAT in “EU-salg uden moms” (EU sales exclusive of VAT) and in field B in VAT declaration.
  • Requirements for documentation proving that the article is shipped out of the country, e.g. freight invoice.

If you have any questions to the above, please feel free to contact your local Blue Water contact.

We regret the confusion this may have caused.
