Almost two years ago, Munck Civil Engineering in Denmark signed the Danida-sponsored contract “Danida Bridges in Northern Ghana”. The project, involving construction of seven large bridges in concrete and steel plus ramps and renovation of 20 km road, is now running in its last phase and has a value of more than DKK 400 million.

Munck Civil Engineering entrusted Blue Water with the logistics for this huge project, for which our scope included coordination and shipping of various equipment from worldwide destinations as well as customs formalities.

“Challenges, like hiring the operational staff for Ghana, procurement of thousands of different commodities, trucks, excavators, bulldozers, cranes and much more, have been interesting but also tough to manage. In handling these challenges, Blue Water has been a crucial factor. With hard work, local know-how and global network, they helped us bring in the vehicles, containers, loads of steel and much more from all over the world - even by full charter vessels“, says Project Coordinator at Munck Civil Engineering, Klaus Schmidt.

Head of Blue Water’s Aid & Development team, Johnny Mortensen states:
“With a project of this size, and when working with a country like Ghana, it is very important to know all the rules and regulations and to have a good network. It has been a great pleasure to work with a serious and professional company like Munck Civil Engineering. Knowing about the bridges’ importance for the connection between Ghana and Burkina Fasó, it is an even greater joy to have taken part of this great project”, says Johnny Mortensen, Blue Water Billund.
