Today, we announce that we will take over Posta’s freight forwarding activities in Denmark and the Faroe Islands from 1 February 2026. The takeover includes both customers and employees and will be carried out with a focus on a smooth transition and no disruption to daily operations. The close cooperation with Smyril Line will continue unchanged.

With the acquisition, we strengthen our presence in the North Atlantic and expand our overall offering to customers who need complete transport and logistics solutions between Denmark, the Faroe Islands and the rest of the world.

In future, customers will have access to Blue Water's global network, digital solutions and strong competencies across sea, air, road and warehousing, creating a more coherent and efficient logistics experience.

Continuity for customers and employees

From 1 February 2026, existing agreements and service processes will continue unchanged, and affected employees will become an integral part of Blue Water. The focus is on a smooth transition, stable operations and ongoing customer communication in both Denmark and the Faroe Islands.

"The most important thing for us is that both customers and employees experience a smooth and orderly transition. We are fully focused on ensuring that agreements and services continue unchanged, and we look forward to welcoming new colleagues to our company," says Jan Dam Poulsen, Regional Senior Vice President, Transport & Logistics, Nordics, Blue Water.

"We are pleased that our freight forwarding activities will be continued by a professional operator with local roots and global reach. It is a good solution for both customers and employees, and we are optimistic about a smooth transition," says Edvard S. Remberg, CEO, Posta.

Strategic strengthening in the North Atlantic

The acquisition is an important step in our long-term development in the North Atlantic. With a local presence in Tórshavn and a stronger foundation in the region, we can offer end-to-end solutions with regional insight and access to global capacity.

"With this acquisition, we are strengthening our foundation in the North Atlantic and ensuring an even stronger setup for customers between Denmark and the Faroe Islands. We combine close relationships and extensive local insight with Blue Water's global network and capacity," says Kenneth Skovbjerg Pedersen, Director, North Atlantic, Blue Water.

Kenneth Skovbjerg Pedersen is responsible for Blue Water's activities in the North Atlantic, including Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands.

Practical information for customers

  • No interruptions: Deliveries and bookings will continue as usual.
  • Contact: Blue Water's customer teams will proactively inform affected customers about contact points, cut-off times and any practical changes.
  • Invoicing and systems: The transition will take place in stages, and customers will be informed directly about administrative adjustments.
