Blue Water finalises set-up in Suriname

The appointment of the new General Manager marks the next step for further expansion in the Caribbean

Blue Water Suriname is now ready to be fully operational with the appointment of its General Manager, Gerson Sporkslede, who will lead the new office. He will be supported by a team of experienced local customs brokers and logistics experts working in close cooperation with other Blue Water locations in the Caribbean, including Georgetown in Guyana and Port of Spain in Trinidad.

"We are delighted to welcome Gerson Sporkslede as the leader of our newly established local office. With his extensive experience in Suriname's logistics industry and his track record with global carriers, he brings valuable local and international expertise to our team," says Lucas Strom, Regional Director Americas.

The three offices in the Caribbean provide logistics solutions and services to the entire region. They will leverage the Blue Water global network and the company's many years of expertise in international transport and logistics particularly in the offshore oil and gas sector and in the growing renewables sector.

Rapid development in Suriname

The Suriname office will primarily deliver transport and logistics solutions for the Oil & Gas, Chemical, Mining and Renewable Energy sectors. The team offers a wide range of services, including international freight forwarding, offshore and onshore logistics support, vessel agencies, customs brokerage, materials management and customised IT solutions.

Blue Water's decision to expand further into the Caribbean, specifically in Suriname, is driven by the recent discovery of additional oil fields in the region. "We are embarking on an exciting project in Suriname, building on our successful operation in Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago. The substantial developments in our existing Caribbean offices have a clear extension into Suriname. With the new office, we can apply lessons learned into providing proven logistic solutions in Suriname," adds Strom.
