Transporting cold storage units to hospitals in Ukraine
Together with manufacturer Vestfrost Solutions, Blue Water has delivered vital equipment in war-torn area
Earlier this year, Blue Water’s long-term customer Vestfrost Solutions became involved in an important charity project to donate refrigeration and freezer units to four hospitals in Ukraine. Blue Water managed the transportation and logistics, working with local partners to ensure the equipment reached its destinations safely.
Vital equipment for hospitals under pressure
Since the start of the war, hospitals across Ukraine have been operating under extremely difficult conditions due to damaged infrastructure, disrupted supply chains and an acute shortage of equipment. When a situation can change in an instant, doctors and other healthcare staff need vital equipment they can rely on.
Vestfrost has supplied thousands of vaccine refrigerators to facilities across the country since the beginning of the war, reflecting the scale of need created by the conflict. This donation is a further contribution to supporting healthcare services in Ukraine.
“Access to safe healthcare should not depend on geography, and it should not be interrupted because of a war,” says Robert Vergo, Senior Director of Healthcare Sales at Vestfrost. “Supporting these hospitals is not a gesture. It is the most direct thing we can do with what we have.”
A complex logistics challenge
Moving refrigeration equipment into an active conflict zone takes expertise and dedication. Routes that are reliable one week may not be the next, security conditions shift, and delivery windows are narrow. The equipment itself is large, heavy and requires careful handling.
For this donation, close collaboration, on-the-ground logistics and local partner support were essential to overcoming these challenges.

The conditions at the destinations made this a complex challenge.
