Blue Water Shipping welcomes the agreement on the Bornholm Energy Island
The recently concluded agreement between Denmark and Germany on the Bornholm Energy Island marks an important step forward in the development of Europe’s future energy system.
With strong political commitment from both countries and support from the EU, the project is taking shape as the world’s first energy island and a central hub for large-scale offshore wind.
The Bornholm Energy Island highlights the importance of close cross-border cooperation in delivering solutions that strengthen Europe’s energy security while contributing meaningfully to the green transition. At the same time, the project is expected to generate significant long-term value for Bornholm and for Denmark, creating new opportunities within infrastructure, energy supply and industrial development at both local and national level.
Blue Water Shipping views the agreement and the progress of the project very positively and sees it as a strong signal for the offshore wind industry. With a strong Danish foundation, extensive experience in offshore wind, marine and project logistics and a proven track record in delivering large and complex infrastructure projects, we look forward to contributing constructively to the realisation of the Bornholm Energy Island. We consider the project an important reference point for future energy developments in Europe and look forward to supporting its delivery through close collaboration, practical solutions and reliable execution.
