From Batam to Bahrain: planning a complex offshore vessel transport solution

When Vallianz was preparing for another major vessel transport from Batam to Bahrain – this time, a newly built fast supply intervention vessel (FSIV) – they needed an experienced logistics partner. Having already worked with Blue Water Singapore several times, Vallianz chose our specialists to supervise the loading onto a heavy-lift vessel in Batam in close collaboration with the vessel owner’s technical team. 

The operation demanded meticulous planning as well as the fabrication of custom cradles for the FSIV to sit on board the chartered vessel.

Divers deployed for precise lifting slings’ positioning underwater

Precision and safety were paramount, especially as the vessel was lifted from the water. Using a spreader bar and lifting slings, divers were essential in supervising the underwater lifting slings placements and adjustments. A significant challenge included managing the operations while closely monitoring wave conditions during the lifting operations.

“One of the primary technical challenges for transporting the FSIV was positioning the lifting slings from underwater using a spreader bar. Divers played a critical role in supervising underwater slings adjustments. The seamless collaboration and attention to details are key reasons on why we continue to trust Blue Water with our critical logistics needs," said a Project Manager at Vallianz.

The Blue Water Singapore team ensured the FSIV was positioned accurately on the heavy-lift vessel. Lashings were fastened to prevent any movement during the voyage.

Extensive offshore heavy lift experience secured delivery ahead of schedule

Drawing from previous experiences handling FSIV transport projects, the Blue Water team was able to optimise the operation timeline. While earlier projects had taken 4 – 5 days for loading and positioning, this project was completed in just three days.
