A celebration of Blue Water’s culture and values
Blue Water Games 2025 was hosted by the Oceania region. As tradition, the global winning team made a DKK 250,000 charity donation.
On 13 September, the third edition of the annual Blue Water Games was held. This year with a special “down under” celebration in Brisbane. Marking Blue Water’s birthday and core values, 100 colleagues from across Australia and Papua New Guinea gathered for a day of fun, teamwork and community spirit. At the same time, colleagues in more than 80 Blue Water offices worldwide celebrated locally, bringing together teams in 30 countries.
Although spread across the globe, a key element to the Blue Water Games was ‘The Oceania Quest’, an online escape room challenge that engaged all colleagues in friendly competition, regardless of location. The winning team across all offices, was awarded the opportunity to donate DKK 250,000 to a charity of their choice, a donation made possible by the Blue Water Foundation.
For Thomas Bek, Blue Water’s new CEO, this was his first Blue Water Games as CEO. He underlined the importance of the event: “The Blue Water Games is a reminder that our culture is not written on paper – it is lived by all the people who are part of Blue Water. By putting people first, by building strong relations, by daring to challenge the status quo and by working with passion. That’s how we succeed as one global team.”
Anne Skov, Chairman of the Blue Water Foundation, added: “It has been inspiring to see colleagues around the world enjoy this day. They showed team spirit, solved challenges side by side and reminded us that fun and togetherness are part of what makes us strong as a company. This is the culture that defines Blue Water.”
Local donations
The winner of ‘The Oceania Quest’ was the Aalborg team, who earned the prize of donating DKK 250,000 to a charity of their choice, selecting Nordjyllands Dyreinternat (North Jutland Animal Shelter), a local branch of Animal Protection Denmark. Nordjyllands Dyreinternat helps animals in need, stops animal abuse and fights for a respectful and sustainable relationship between animals, humans and nature.
In addition, the regional winner at Blue Water Games host region Oceania was able to donate DKK 100.000 to a cause close to their community. Team Brisbane took home this prize and donated to McGrath Foundation. McGrath Cancer Care Nurses provide free expert nursing care and support to people experiencing any type of cancer and their families.
Anne Skov highlighted the impact of this initiative: “It’s a powerful example of how our responsibility as a company reaches beyond business. By giving back to the communities we are part of, we make a difference together.”
