Blue Water's reefer chartering department in Brest, France was busy chartering vessels for potato export at the end of 2015.
"When we charter vessels for this type of assignments, we look for pallet-friendly, speedy vessels with the right capacity. This is to ensure that the quality of the product stays intact throughout the transport", says Marianne Girardin, Chartering Manager from Blue Water Brest.
The potatoes handled by Blue Water are typically transported to Tunisia and Algeria and the loading operations take place in Brest and Esbjerg. In total, Blue Water chartered ten reefer vessels from various owners like GreenSea, Baltic Shipping and SilverGreen and this season showed a good tendency in terms of volumes.
"Our Stevedores and Agency Department have done a great job. They worked swiftly and safely to complete the loading operations as fast as possible so the deliveries could be completed as planned", says Marianne Girardin.
