New rules for container weighing

As per 1 July, all containers must display a Verified Gross Mass before being loaded

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has adopted a new container weight verification requirement as per 1 July. It states that vessel owners can only load containers with shipper-declared Verified Gross Mass (VGM).

This means that there will be two ways of weighing the container in the future. The purpose of the new requirements on container weighing is to increase maritime safety.
