A number of Blue Water’s clients gained a thorough and useful insight into the challenges that air freight may involve
The visit has brought an understanding of the many requirements to the packaging, maximum height and correct information. We would like to thank the organiser of the tour and the staff of Billund Airport
What will happen if the cargo is not packed properly or if it cannot get through X-ray in the airport’s security area? These were just a few of the questions that Blue Water’s clients got an answer to when they were invited on a tour of Billund Airport.
“It was interesting to see the efficiency with which the cargo is handled - from it is handed in until takeoff - although many people are involved in the process. The visit has brought an understanding of the many requirements to the packaging, maximum height and correct information. We would like to thank Blue Water and the staff of Billund Airport. They are all very passionate about their work”, says Rasmus Bøgh Jørgensen, Logistics Coordinator at ITW GSE Aps.
“Tropica ships live aquarium plants worldwide by air freight. Therefore, it is important for us to gain knowledge on how our plants are handled during transport. Seeing the physical conditions as well as the information Blue Water’s staff and Cargo Center Billund provided gave us thorough insight on how our shipments are handled throughout the transport”, says Lars Ole Øksnebjerg, Procurement at Tropica Aquariaum Plants.
Helping the clients in their logistics planning
Blue Water’ intention behind the invitation was to help the clients in their daily work.
“Showing our clients how their shipments are being handled, and the requirements involved and why, will help them in their day-to-day logistics planning. Ultimately, it is our mission to optimise our clients’ logistics chain” says Trine Hollænder, Business Development Manager Air Freight at Blue Water Odense.
The visit to Billund Airport was a great success with 31 participants from 13 different companies. Later this year, Blue Water will arrange a similar visit to Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup and another visit to Billund Airport in early 2019.
During recent years, Blue Water has experienced a positive development within air freight and handles thousands of import and export shipments to and from the airports in Billund and Copenhagen.
