CPSC eFiling of certificates of compliance is becoming mandatory
Blog
Effective July 8, 2026, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is implementing mandatory eFiling for CPSC Certificates of Compliance through ACE for CPSC-regulated imports.
Importers have the opportunity to register their products in the CPSC Product Registry which will enhance import clearances and reduce CPSC scrutiny.
The products regulated by CPSC are normally: Children products, household goods and furnishings, consumer electronics and electrical products, home improvement products, recreation products, textiles and apparel. You can see the full list below:
If your products appear in the list and still have doubts about the applicability, importers can use the CPSC Library and/or the CPSC regulatory robot:
If your product is determined to be regulated, CPSC certificates of compliance will be required, and this information must be reported through the “Full PGA Message Set” by your customs broker. Im-porters may authorize customs brokers to submit “abbreviated” reference messages instead of the “Full PGA Message Set” when enrolled in the Product registry. This can help CPSC verify compli-ance certificates more efficiently and may result in reduced scrutiny and fewer examinations for im-porters.
Ensure your products are tested and certified before they are shipped to the United States to avoid costly delays, inspections, or even refusals of entry.
