Blue Water Turku supports Sykerö for children with cancer

To mark the 10th anniversary of the office, a donation was made on behalf of the Blue Water Foundation

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Blue Water Turku, the office donated 10,000 DKK to support Sykerö on behalf of the Blue Water Foundation. Sykerö supports families affected by childhood cancer in Southwest Finland and organises activities for families such as sports, science clubs, camps and movie nights.

Laura Kanerva and Pia Ilves from Sykerö visited the Turku office to accept the donation and discuss their impactful work. With Sykerö largely relying on volunteers and contributions, every donation holds great significance.

"Children should not have to face life-threatening diseases. If our donation can make a difference for children with cancer, my team and I could not be prouder. It is a small step, but it means the world to us to provide hope and support. Thank you, Blue Water Foundation, for this opportunity to make a change," says Erkki Valtonen, Country Manager at Blue Water Finland.

10 years of business

The Turku office became part of Blue Water in 2013, as the company acquired the business of a prominent forwarding company Wikeström & Krogius. Ever since its establishment, the Turku office has been well-positioned on the south-west and west coast markets focused on European road freight and sea freight.

The office – run by twelve local professional freight forwarders and sales – is known for its regular weekly departures to several European countries and international sea freight e.g., Shanghai, China.

Over the years, the office's operations have evolved, focusing on outsourcing and optimising the distribution process. One of the notable changes was the move of air freight in 2018 to the Vantaa office, situated close to Helsinki/Vantaa International Airport. The Turku and Vantaa offices work closely together to provide tailor-made transport solutions for the whole Finnish market.
